Teltonika RUT2410 Router Review

A great little cellular router

We selected the Teltonika RUT2410 Cellular Router to use with a Koodo Prepaid card for cellular network access with high availability. Although I’m a former sysadmin, I am by no means a cellular networking expert, and a lot of the advice in the reviews made me pretty sure it would work and so I grabbed it.

A good little router that’s rugged enough for harsh environments. Made for professionals, the web-based interface is okay, but not as slick as consumer brands. VPN configuration was smooth, DHCP works out of the box and cellular configuration was very simple, I just inserted the SIM card and it was ready to go in just a few minutes.

There’s no real downsides but it should be mentioned that this is an industrial router, so it’s not set up for user-friendliness. You will require networking knowledge to configure it and there are no wizards etc.

In short:

  • It worked with prepaid Koodo, I didn’t want restrictive contracts and I’ve been pretty happy with them (ahem, they were better before they started calling so frequently).

  • Easy set up, connected flawlessly to the Koodo 4G network once the SIM was activated, which didn’t take long.

  • Interface is a little dated but very usable and easy to understand.

  • WiFi is stable, even after having several power issues, has good compatibility with many UPS options.

  • Good VPN options and experience.

  • Good recovery after power outages, haven’t needed to reconfigure anything despite an improper shutdown.

Overall: 9/10
